Kendo is the art of Japanese fencing. It is full contact, full speed sword combat using a special bamboo sword called a shinai and armor to protect the target areas of the body called bogu. Kendo is a heavily regulated art in order to insure the highest degree of safety possible. We teach modern Kendo under the All United States Kendo Federation regulations and practices. Kendo develops high degrees of honor, trust and respect among its practitioners. It is a very spiritually-based martial art that adheres to the highest moral and ethical standards of Japanese martial arts.
